For all of you attendees just waiting to get your hands on the new Black and Decker mower I”ll be giving away at the Lane County Home and Garden Show this weekend, here’s what you need to do. Attend one of my talks, then sign up for automatic email alerts in the right hand corner of this post under “email notification”, then click “COMMENT” below and type in “Eugene Show” in the comment box. That’s it! All replies will be collected, printed out, removed every few hours and put in a bowl; and I’ll draw a lucky winner at the end of the show

Eugene Garden Show, loved your talk and I then told all my friends all the things I was doing wrong. How do I fix what I inherited without making it worse! The whole neighborhood needs an overhaul! I have 1/3 of an acre, perfect for that mower. thanks.

Eugene Show. I enjoyed your presentation earlier today. I would hope you have time to visit Grass Roots Garden before leaving town as I had mentioned to you. They harvested 65,300 pounds of organic produce in 2009 to provide to Food for Lane County on their 2 1/2 site. This past year there were over 2400 individuals contributing 24,000 hours of volunteer time to the garden. This is an active teaching and demonstration garden that is not only productive but beautiful. It would be worth making a trip back to Eugene to visit the garden and perhaps tape a segment for your new show. The person to contact for more information is Merry Bradley who runs the garden. Enjoyed your classes both yesterday and today. Our “stockade” fence is very popular in the northwest; However, you may have us convinced that we should change our front gate. The information was very timely for us as we are renovating our front yard landscaping.

My regular black plastic lasts 2 to 3 years. I do store it during the summer.

Thanks for coming to Eugene and sharing your knowledge! I learned a lot. I talked with you Saturday evening about vegetable gardening. My question was if you knew a great detailed book on vegetable gardening. You told me to e-mail you. I will look around on your blog to see if there is a place for that and did not see one, sorry about that. I want to learn and teach my kids to grow their own veggies and eat locally. I was looking for something that guides you with the how and when for all kinds of vegetables. We are interested in trying our hand at gardening all year, not just summer. We are trying to teach them about environmental impacts and food is one of them.
I learned a bunch and want to thank you for coming all the way to Oregon to share your expertise with us and for learning about your garden blog. It is fantastic!

My husband and I enjoyed your presentation on designing the small garden Saturday evening at the Lane County Home Show and I enjoyed your presentation on Sunday afternoon about how to get started on our own Victory Garden. One good tip we’ve learned already from your book is turning a tomato cage on its side and letting cucumber fruit ripen up off of the lawn or dirt. Thank you for your friendly, funny, and practical presentations.
